Welcome
Our center provides care for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children.  Our Core Knowledge Curriculum is based upon sound theories of child development and the accepted best practices of early childhood education.  As such, our programs can be considered “developmentally appropriate” or ones that are planned and carried out based on knowledge of how children grow and what they can do – socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically – at each stage of development.  Children are learning new skills and developing special interests as they take on typical growth tasks at each stage of life.  No two children develop on the same schedule or in exactly the same sequence, and each has his/her own unique interests, family backgrounds, needs, and strengths.  Therefore, our program is based on not only what is appropriate for a given age group, but also what is appropriate for each individual child.

We firmly believe that individualizing the program promotes the development and growth of each child in our care.  In order to do this successfully we use a variety of strategies to help us learn as much as we can about each child’s development, family background, and interests.  This information is used to adapt the learning environment, to plan activities and to design teaching strategies to promote each child’s optimal growth and development.  We believe that one of the easiest ways to individualize a program is to plan a variety of developmentally appropriate activities each and every day and to allow children to make choices.

The quality of our programs will be most evident in the way that our staff care for and work with the children.  Teachers respond quickly to children’s needs and communications.  Infant and toddler staff will hold, sooth, and provide caring attention to each child to ensure their emotional and physical comfort.  Preschool staff will provide caring attention, listen to each child’s ideas, respond to their questions, and help them to think for themselves.
